AIDS

The Story

40 million people are infected with the HIV virus worldwide. We decided to make this programme because we had many questions about HIV and AIDS. What is this virus and why is it so hard to find a cure? Why can some people who have the virus lead a normal life but many die? We found out that answer has to do with science and money.

“…when I started I'd tell everybody who had HIV that they'd die in 5 or 10 years. Sorry, can't help you, mate. Now I say if you take the pills that I prescribe for you, you'll live a normal lifespan. It's an amazing change in my lifetime. It's staggering.” – Brian Gazzard
